The ISO/IEC 15118 Testing Symposium in Versailles shows a great momentum in the CCS adoption

The 6th International CCS & ISO/IEC 15118 Testing Symposium hosted by the CharIN member VEDECOM brought together more than 200 participants from 85 companies from the smart charging community including many CharIN members; it was the biggest event so far in the series of Testing Symposia since its start in 2014.

“The participant numbers demonstrate that there is a huge interest in CCS from the EV community, and this is a very good message for electromobility in general as well”, says co-organizer Jens Schmutzler from Technical University of Dortmund (CNI).

The 6th International CCS & ISO/IEC 15118 Testing Symposium took place from June 22nd to 23rd 2017 in Versailles. The event was hosted by the CharIN member VEDECOM, organized among others by the TU Dortmund University and supported by the CharIN e.V. The goal of the meeting was to conduct conformance & interoperability tests for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure or respective Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and communication controllers using the ISO/IEC 15118-2/-3, SAE J2847/2, SAE J2931/1, SAE J2931/4, and DIN 70121 standards.

Dr. Isabell Schwenkert from the CharIN coordination office presented the CharIN e.V. during the lecture part. The focus of the presentation was the work of the CharIN focus group Conformance Test/ Interoperability and its Qualification Team.

The main objective for the CharIN focus Group Conformance Test/Interoperability is to define the requirements for a Golden Test Device (GTD) that will facilitate conformance testing and to define the processes for qualifying the GTD and the test houses which will perform the tests. Furthermore, the focus group works towards perception of the GTD as “the” testing tool for testing against the CCS standards. Some of the measuring equipment vendors involved in the focus group Conformance Test/Interoperability were also present at the Testing Symposium to get feedback on their GTD implementations. The results are available for CharIN members of the focus group and will be further discussed within the focus group.
