CharIN´s Voice in Europe: Olivier Paturet takes over the position as Head of Public Affairs EU
CharIN, the globally acting cross industry alliance aiming at es-tablishing the Combined Charging System (CCS) as the global standard for charging all kinds of battery powered electric vehi-cles announces the appointment of Olivier Paturet as Head of Public Affairs EU.
The long-term target of the European Union to enable sustainable and smart mobility, the ongoing revision of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Directive (AFID), and the upcoming COVID-19 recovery plan reinforcing the European Green Deal, are all factors that have strongly influenced the Board's decision to intensify CharIN´s political activities at European level.
For Electric Vehicle customers an interoperable and open standard at European scale is essential to enable consumers recharging their cars in the Trans-Euro-pean perspective. Building up the required ecosystem around e-mobility and making it more customer friendly is the best way to fulfill the target of clean transportation. The respective discussion at European level will be henceforth supported by Olivier Paturet, our Head of Public Affairs EU at our new premises in Brussels.
“We want to give CharIN a strong voice in Europe”, states Claas Bracklo, Chairman of the CharIN e.V.
Olivier has a long-time experience in the field of EV charg-ing infrastructure in Europe. He has been a member of the Sustainable Transport Forum (STF) representing the Renault-Nissan Alliance and contributed towards the transposition of the first Directive for Alternative Fuels In-frastructure (2014/94/EU). Since 2016, he has been work-ing as an independent consultant in the field of EV charg-ing infrastructure with a clear focus on EV fast charging. This new position will come in parallel and in full synergy with his current activities in the field of high-power charging (HPC) deployment.
“The position of CharIN has grown to become the leading name in charging business and I am very pleased to be a part of that” says Olivier Paturet, CharIN´s Head of Public Affairs EU.
Looking at the short-term goals, Olivier wants to represent the global crossindustry position of CharIN. Detailed information on the capabilities of CCS and its contribution to leverage the adoption of electromobility should reach entities of the public and private space being actively involved and genuinely interested in the deployment of electromobility. In this context, he will be focusing on topics like ISO15118, Plug & Charge, smart charging, Vehicle to Grid (V2G) and data security.

CharIN´s EU activities are supported by our cooperation partner AVERE (The European Association for Electromobility) who promotes electromobility and sustainable transport across Europe. Philippe Vangeel, Secretary General at AVERE, points out that it´s a crucial moment now to intensify activities in Brussels through joint campaigns for the mass uptake of electromobility.
“We can really make a difference for the future of e-mobility in Europe”, he says.
