IONITY joins CharIN

Based in Munich, Germany, IONITY Is a Joint Venture established by BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company, and Volkswagen Group with Porsche & Audi, to build and operate a European network of High-Powered-Charging (HPC) stations for Electric Vehicles.

Offering up to 350 kW and with charging times for customers reduced to a minimum, the network is a key milestone in creating an international, standardized and transparent charging infrastructure, thus heralding a new era in long distance travel for battery electric vehicle (BEVs). IONITY has formed strategic partnerships with a number of powerful partners in order to be able to offer attractive sites in national and international locations. It is planned to have 400 sites up and running by 2020.


IONITY has recently joined the Charging Interface Initiative e.V. (CharIN), which is the platform for the exchange with all industries surrounding charging infrastructure. To achieve the highest customer comfort for charging, IONITY will actively contribute to CharIN’s effort to improve the CCS charging interface.
