ITEC INDIA 2019, International Transportation Electrification Conference India was organized by SAE India and IEEE IAS. It is aimed at helping the Industry transition from conventional vehicles to advanced electrified vehicles. The conference happened between 17th and 19th December in Bangalore, India and focused on components, systems and standards related to efficient power conversion for electrified transportation including heavy duty, rail and off-road applications.
Sivam Sabesan, Managing Director India, CharIN e.V chaired a technical session on Heavy Duty Electrification, a topic that is fast gaining acceptance in the industry. Technical papers in the session included electric tractors, electric mining trucks as well as component design issues like hub motor traction stability and sizing for hybrid military vehicles.
The session was well-attended, and the presentations were thought provoking and interactive, prompting several questions from the audience. The conference brought together the Indian electric vehicle engineering crowd and was an excellent occasion to catch up with industry colleagues and discuss the growth and challenges in the Indian EV marketspace.
