CharIN members involved in a $9 million grant-project of DC fast chargers in California

The California Energy Commission supports the installation of DC fast chargers along major state freeways and highways by granting $ 9 million to companies like Chargepoint Inc., member of the CharIN association, EV Connect Inc., as well as NRG EV Services LLC and Recargo Inc., two CharIN-membership-applying companies.

These four companies will install 61 DC fast chargers at 41 sites along major routes in California. At the fast charging stations vehicles can fully charge in 20 to 30 minutes, whereas at Level 2 charging stations vehicles fully charge in four to eight hours. There will be Level 2 chargers along the road with one or two Level 2 chargers along Californian mayor streets.

In the future, electric car drivers can go from San Diego to the border of Oregon without any problems of charging their electric vehicle.

With a significant growth rate in March 2016 and with currently more than 500 CCS fast chargers, the US is on the way to catch up with Europe and its more than 2000 CCS fast chargers.

The CharIN e.V. is involved in more and more fast charging projects through its members and future members. The facilities of CCS are increasing more rapidly, also due to our members’ interests worldwide.
