In the field of electrical power transportation and distribution (PTD) Stäubli has been serving this industry for many decades. Subsequently, the acquired knowledge has systematically been used for the development of solutions to meet the requirements and needs of Transportation Electrification. Stäubli successfully implemented its Quick Charging Connector as an Automated Connection Device (ACD) for electric public transport in e-bus networks and ferries, and for commercial vehicles such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in harbor logistics around the world.
Stäubli charging and connection solution
The ACD developed by Stäubli complies to SAE J3105-3 and stands out for its long service lifetime as it is designed for high numbers of mating cycles, features a fully enclosed design to protect the contact elements and ensures low maintenance. The high level of safety is guaranteed by a completely touch-protected and waterproof design. This electrical connection solution transfers a high amount of power allowing for several hours of continuous operation after only a short charging time. As the connection solution is applied for automated operation an advanced angular and positioning misalignment compensation is integrated.
Contributions to CharIN
Stäubli is committed to contribute to the clear trend towards electrification of all means of transportation for public, individual, commercial and logistic requirements. The growing need for higher current transmission perfectly matches the company’s know-how. While developing and manufacturing advanced connection solutions over many years, Stäubli has acquired profound knowledge of electrical contacts and contact technologies, which is now offered to be shared with the group of experts in CharIN.
