Once again, it was confirmed that CCS and ISO 15118 is a solid path of acceptance worldwide. We were glad to see that many Hong Kong representatives from different government departments and major companies attended. As presented, Hong Kong is taking significant steps to allow the smooth transition from ICE to EV not only for private use but also for public transport.
Several presentations were given related to fast and safe charging, as well as for a kaleidoscope of applications related to Plug ‘n Charge, Roaming, Remote monitoring/booking of charging networks, secured payments, V2G applications, Megawatt-Charging of commercial vehicles, etc.
KEPCO, the main grid operator in Korea, provided us with the 1st insights of using CCS/ ISO15118 for V2G applications in industrial scale, with expectations to make this application common place in the near future. We might expect that the first operations for V2G using ISO15118 will be in commercial use in Korea.
Woohyun Seo from KERI and CharIN Team Lead Qualification gave a first glimpse of the CharIN Conformance Certification process being implemented in the coming months to support EV and EVSE manufacturers with their product interoperability confirmation on a worldwide scale.
The attendees are already looking forward to the third CharIN Asia Conference to be held in Korea in 2020.
